Grief therapy the EVERYDAY way

Romans 5:3-5

King James Version

3 And not only so,

but we glory in tribulations also:

knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

4 And patience, experience;

and experience, hope:

5 And hope maketh not ashamed;

because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts

by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

How can one overcome grief, the everyday way?

When I came across parents grieving over their children at that tragedy in Texas, it touched my heart strings.

When I visited my childhood friend this morning at his wake, it touched my heart, too.

He had been ill for sometime, and yesterday morning, a little past midnight, the GOOD LORD took him home.

Last night, I watched snippets of videos and saw suffering all over the world.

What eased the pain from my own heart?

The suffering of others, causes me to forget my own suffering.

We've all lost someone dear to us.

Why should my suffering be unique?

Every family goes through it, every single day.

It was very touching when I saw on one of those interviews, the grieving father, saying, he just wanted to "have his child back".

That nothing mattered but having her back.

I know how he feels.

We would give up anything, just to have our loved ones back.

And yet, we don't get to decide anything about life, and death.

Only GOD decides.

It is very tempting to just curl up, and die, when we find ourselves inconsolable.

But what about others, who are relying on us, each day?

We have to keep going for them.

Because others are suffering, too, we become less absorbed in our own grief, and we begin to think of others.

And we wonder what we can do to ease their pain, too.

Even as we know, only JESUS can ease their pain.

Only He can help us go through the process.

And so, I pray to JESUS to keep guiding me.

To keep strengthening me.

To instruct me what to be, think, say, and do.

And that I am of useful service to the LORD.

That He will teach me how to best love you.

We all carry our crosses.

We all have to bear it, endure it, and keep going.

JESUS did say:

Luke 9:23

King James Version

23 And he said to them all,

If any man will come after me,

let him deny himself,

and take up his cross daily,

and follow me.

We can all make it.

If we follow JESUS.

No one has borne more suffering than the LORD.

Isaiah 53:4-5

King James Version

4 Surely he hath borne our griefs,

and carried our sorrows:

yet we did esteem him stricken,

smitten of God,

and afflicted.

5 But he was wounded for our transgressions,

he was bruised for our iniquities:

the chastisement of our peace was upon him;

and with his stripes we are healed.

Galatians 1:4

King James Version

4 Who gave himself for our sins,

that he might deliver us from this present evil world,

according to the will of God and our Father:

Let us find comfort in GOD, and in each other.

It's the only way to get through life.

We're all in this together.

Death is a fact of life.

Only through JESUS, are we truly comforted.

Matthew 5:4

King James Version

4 Blessed are they that mourn:

for they shall be comforted.
